“I never thought I could learn to code. At the end of Flatiron, I could read others’ code and write my own! I will definitely use this at college.”

Curriculum

During Flatiron Pre-College Academy, students learn the ins-and-outs of wielding technology to create products. Our curriculum focuses on the same modern languages, frameworks and tools used at companies like Facebook, Airbnb & Twitter.

Languages & Frameworks

JAVASCRIPT

Javascript is the language that makes the web interactive. If there's one language to learn this is it, the most ubiquitous language ever, operating on every browser on every device.

HTML5 / CSS3

HTML5 and CSS are front-end technologies used to build beautifully designed pages and web experiences that we have come to expect on the Internet.

RUBY

Ruby is a powerful, modern programming language that is prized for its versatility and scalability. It has become a preferred tool for building large web applications.

RUBY ON RAILS

Rails and Sinatra are web frameworks that can be integrated with Ruby to build power powerful, database- backed web applications, powered by forms and data.

Tools of the Craft

We teach using real professional software tools. There's no contrived software environments designed "for kids." Your kids are smart, we treat them that way. By exposing students to the inner workings of their computers, our goal is to have them begin to see technology as a tool for creation, rather than purely a medium for consumption.
